The CEF subsidises adults with learning aspirations to pursue continuing education and training. Eligible applicants may submit unlimited number of claims for reimbursement of fees on successful completion of CEF reimbursable courses up to a maximum sum of HK$25,000. The co-payment ratios by learners (i.e. the percentage of fees to be borne by learners) for the first HK$10,000 subsidy is 20% of the course fee and that for the remaining HK$15,000 subsidy is 40% of the course fee.

Important Notice: Planned update to PMP training hour requirements (effective late Q4 2026)

To apply for the PMP, you need 35 hours of project management training. These hours can come from any eligible course or provider.

Starting in late Q4 2026, PMI is updating PMP live training eligibility requirements. This ensures consistent, quality preparation worldwide.

* If you earn PMP training hours through a live class, they will be eligible only if the course is delivered by a:

1. PMI Authorized Training Partner (ATP) or
2. China Registered Education Provider (REP)
3. Eligible, accredited academic program (including PMI Global Accreditation Center accredited programs)

1. About the Certificate

The Project Management Professional (PMP®) is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers. Globally recognized and demanded, the PMP certification demonstrates to employers, clients and colleagues that a project manager possesses project management knowledge, experience and skills to bring projects to successful completion.

As the demand for skilled project managers is at a critically urgent level, practitioners who hold the PMP certification are well positioned to provide the professional skills necessary to lead project teams and achieve successful project results.

The PMP recognizes the competence of an individual to perform in the role of a project manager, specifically experience in leading and directing projects. Year after year, the PMP certification has garnered global recognition and commanded a higher salary for certified individuals over non-certified individuals.

2. Course Objectives

  • This course provides the essential knowledge and guided practice for participants to engage confidently in project work.
  • Participants will be capable of communicating effectively within project teams and perform project duties during project progress.
  • By attending this course, participants will be able to fulfil one of the training requirements for taking the Project Management Professional (PMP) examination.

3. Target Students and Admission Requirements

Applicants should be:

A. Hong Kong residents age 18 or above at the time when the CEF course commenced, who have the right of abode or the right to land or to remain in Hong Kong without restriction

4. Exam Requirements and Format

PMP EXAM (Exam fee not included in course fee):

Number of Questions: 180 Questions

Exam Duration: 240 Minutes, including two 10-minute breaks.

Exam Format: Multiple Choice

  • High School Diploma: 5 years of experience managing projects
  • Associate’s Degree or Vocational Trade School Diploma: 4 years of experience managing projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher: 3 years of experience managing projects
  • Bachelor’s or Post-Graduate Degree from a PMI Global Accreditation Center Program: 2 years of experience managing projects

✔ Project Professional Training Requirements

  • 35 hours of Project Professional training

CEF COMPLETION AND ASSESSMENT:

Requirement 1: at least 80% class attendance

Requirement 2: attend 3 assessments

  • 1st interim assessment after Lesson 4
    • 20 MC questions, 20 minutes
  • 2nd interim assessment after Lesson 8
    • 20 MC questions, 20 minutes
  • Final assessment during Lesson 12
    • 60 MC questions, 60 minutes
  • Passing criteria:
    • 1st assessment weighting: 20%
    • 2nd assessment weighting: 20%
    • Final assessment weighting: 60%
    • Overall passing mark: 60%
