After successfully completing the training course, you will be able to:
- Explain the fundamental concepts and principles of an AIMS based on ISO/IEC 42001
- Interpret the ISO/IEC 42001 requirements for an AIMS from the perspective of an implementer
- Initiate and plan the implementation of an AIMS based on ISO/IEC 42001 by utilizing PECB’s IMS2 Methodology and other best practices

The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer” exam meets all the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP) requirements. It covers the following competency domains:
Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of an artificial intelligence management system (AIMS)
Domain 2: Artificial intelligence management system requirements
Domain 3: Planning of an AIMS implementation based on ISO/IEC 42001

- Lead Implementer: Focuses on planning, implementing, operating, monitoring, and improving an AIMS aligned to ISO/IEC 42001—covering AI risk methodology, controls (including Annex A), policy creation, impact assessments, and certification readiness.
- Lead Auditor: Focuses on audit principles and the end-to-end audit process—preparing, conducting, closing audits, and managing an audit program to verify AIMS conformity and effectiveness.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Lead Implementer if you will build/run the AIMS: writing the AI policy, running AI impact/risk assessments, implementing controls, and preparing the organization for certification.
- Choose Lead Auditor if you will assess others’ AIMS: as an internal auditor, a consultant reviewing clients, or working toward audits for a certification body.
Many professionals take both (order depends on role). A common path is Implementer first to learn how to build an AIMS, then Auditor to learn how to evaluate one—though neither is a formal prerequisite for the other.
