| Four levels within the ITIL® scheme |

The ITIL® Qualification Scheme uses a system that enables an individual to gain credits for each exam they take. Once candidates have accumulated a sufficient number of credits they can be awarded the ITIL® Expert in IT Service Management. |

To achieve the ITIL® Expert in IT Service Management, candidates must successfully complete, in addition to the Foundation Level, a number of intermediate units and the Managing Across the Lifecycle (MALC) capstone course. This course brings together the full essence of a Lifecycle approach to service management, and consolidates the knowledge gained across the qualification scheme. |

ITIL® Master: |
|
|
| |
This level of the qualification will assess an individual's ability to apply and analyze the ITIL® concepts in new areas. This higher level qualification is currently under development. |

ITIL® Complementary Qualifications: |
|
|
| |
The ITIL® qualifications scheme recognizes certifications which link and "add value" to ITIL® Best Practices and the current certification portfolio. These certifications are recognized under the ITIL® Complementary Qualifications Scheme. Candidates who successfully achieve recognized complementary certifications can then use the credits gained (up to a maximum of 6 credits total) from complementary certifications towards the ITIL® Expert. |
